🏖️ Top Beaches in Tuscany

1. Forte dei Marmi

An upscale destination offering well-maintained beaches and a chic atmosphere. However, the water isn’t always as clear as in southern parts of the coast.

Forte dei Marmi and Pietrasanta are definitely more posh... Both are 'nicer' but it can be a lot of very wealthy, very young, very party-hardy Eastern Europeans.

2. San Vincenzo

A relaxed seaside town with a long, sandy beach and clean water, San Vincenzo is one of the few beach destinations in Tuscany that's easily reachable by train. Great for families or travelers without a car.

San Vincenzo is a nice spot with a big public beach and you can get there by train from Pisa or Florence.

3. Southern Coast of Livorno

South of Livorno, you'll find a series of rocky beaches with crystal-clear waters, ideal for those seeking a more natural setting. These spots are best accessed by car and offer a peaceful retreat away from crowded tourist areas.

For the beach, I highly recommend #8 'Le Vaschette'. I believe that's in the town of Calafuria, a short drive from Livorno proper.

4. Beaches Between Piombino and Follonica

This stretch offers a variety of beaches—some sandy, others more wild—with fewer crowds. You'll need a car to explore freely.

You might wanna see how long it takes from where you are to visit Carlappiano or Baratti, near Follonica. Both have public and private beaches.

5. Isola del Giglio

A small island with quiet beaches and transparent water. Less touristy than Elba, it's perfect for a peaceful break. The Ferry departs from Porto Santo Stefano.

Isola del Giglio is honestly amazing, and definitely not as touristy as Rome or Siena.

6. Elba Island

The largest island in Tuscany, Elba offers a mix of sandy beaches, hiking, and crystal-clear coves. It’s a bit more developed and touristy but still stunning. The Ferry departs from Piombino.

Elba can work but long journey to get there.

7. Monte Argentario

A scenic peninsula in southern Tuscany known for crystal-clear waters, rocky coves like Cala del Gesso, and charming harbor towns. Best explored by car, though reachable by train via Orbetello and local shuttle.
